## What is Elemental Attack and Elemental Smash?

### Elemental Attack
Elemental Attack is a new type of stat introduced with the follower system. The elemental damage comes in four variants:

- Divine
- Chaos
- Nature
- Arcane

Elemental Attack obeys the following rules:

- Elemental attack stacks with other elements
- Elemental attack is very simillar to physical/magic attack, and is additive with normal attack stats
- ALL elemental attack types apply as a base to all attacks
- Elemental attack scales with skill coefficients like normal attack does.
- - If skill Y does 30x atk damage, 1 divine atk will add 30 damage
- Elemental attack is unaffected by crit and crit damage. After scaling based on skill coefficent, it is added flatly on top of previous damage
- - Example: Normal hit does 300 damage. With 10 Divine attack and a skill coefficient of 1x, it does 310 (300 + 10). On crit, it does 460 (300 + 150 + 10)
- Elemental Attack is effected by debuffs on target that increase damage dealt (crows/glyph etc.) (more testing needed, but observed)
- Elemental Attack ignores pdef and mdef of the target (provided by support)
- Elemental Attack instead is affected by elemental resistance (unable to tell what resists what, if anything at the moment yet, but confirmed by support its a thing)
- Elemental Attack also affects healing equal to Magic Attack

### Elemental Smash
Since elemental attack is unaffected by crit, this is where elemental smash comes into play. Elemental smash is essentially crit for elemental attack. It obeys the following rules:

- Elemental Smash can occur on a normal, or a crit attack. It is calculated completely separate from crit
- Elemental Smash is rolled PER ELEMENT ATTACK TYPE. This means that you can have multiple procs of elemental smash for a single hit, up to 4 times total (1 for each of the elemental attack types).
- The amount added in elemental smash is 50% of the value of the elemental attack that is being smashed.

The following is an example showing Elemental Smash Calculations/Outcomes:

Assume the following

- Testing a skill with a damage coefficient of 1.0
- Normal Attack: 100
- Divine: 10
- Chaos: 10
- Nature: 10
- Arcane: 10

Base Damage of the skill = 100 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 = 140   #remember for non-smash attacks, ALL elemental damages apply

Damage of the skill with Divine Elemental Smash Proc = 100 + (10 + 5) + 10 +  10  + 10 = 145 #obtained 50% more divine damage

Damage of Divine+Arcane Smash Procs = 100 + (10+5) + 10 + 10 + (10+5) = 150 #obtained 50% divine and 50% arcane

Damage of All Smash Procs = 100 + (10+5) + (10+5) + (10+5) + (10+5) = 160

So those stats only affect your followers and not your character itself?

The stats discussed here affect your actual character, not your follower. You can see how much elemental damage you receive from followers in the attribute pane
